February 2nd, 2010 Live Wedding Music: Five Secrets Wedding Planners Must Know

Setting Up for live wedding music is just one of about a thousand projects facing brides and grooms and wedding planners. Between flowers, photographers, locales, dresses, parties, rings, video, and more, even a tiny and tranquil wedding makes for a large amount of planning. It can be a trying time because if even one of these areas falls through the cracks, your big day can end up being a super letdown.

Here are five hints to hiring live wedding instrumentalists for your service and reception:

1. you engage a band with a proven track record of professionalism. Does the manager return your telephone calls promptly? Does the band have a web site? Business cards? Other promotional materials? Or do you get the impression you’re speaking to a guy practicing in his garage with his pals? The way the band presents itself as you begin talking with them is a genuine indicator of how they’ll show up (or not!) on your big day.

2. Promptness is key. When you set an appointment to connect personally or on the phone, it’s like a mini-contract. If the band handler is tardy to meet with you, it’s a warning sign that they don’t take their agreements earnestly. If they can’t arrive on time in the planning stage, what other understandings will they abandon with you on your wedding day? This carries on to you, likewise - being timely is just one way you can live a life that exhibits that you honor your promises.

3. Make sure the dance band is easy-going rather than being a bunch of divas. By now you’ve probably heard a thousand Bridezilla jokes, even if you’re not exacting or extreme. Imagine renting the equivalent in craziness for your wedding dance band. The last thing you want on your wedding day is to have to wait on your musicians hand and foot, fetching them food and drink, having the thermostat set for them, or catering to other hard to please wants. The greatest band for you is one that can take care of itself, one that’s easy to get along with, and one that does all it can to make sure your day is easy and fun for you.

4. Engage a wedding band that’s fun. Getting hitched is one of the biggest choices you’ll ever make. It’s important business. The music on your wedding day should be splendid and fun. You don’t want to see your invitees oblivious, lethargic, and wishing the party was through. You want them up, dancing, singing, and smiling. If you select a live wedding music band well, your choice will do very much to make your wedding day unforgettable in a fabulous way. This is the big day you’ve been looking for, and music is such a important part of it. Make sure you hire a dance band that makes the day idyllic - gratifying for you and your guests.

December 26th, 2008 somebody

The eerie scene in front of me Displaced by the foggy glass Calls me forward into my Displaced motion of feeling. You saw me as you walked past Tired and heavy From a long adventure, Your eyes passed through me As if I were your mere reflection Exhibiting the nights obstacles. I never saw you enter But knew you were here Looking for something Or someone Yes I am the one in the window The one that you chose Chose to gaze upon amongst All those busy shells Marching on as they were told to The air around me is weighing Down with every breath That is full of something to say I remain at this window Waiting for your eyes to spot Something of what you were Searching for As you passed by earlier The look of confusion on your face Twisted my hopes of recognition Oh what I would give To be the one you sought out On that rainy afternoon The mascara tracks that quickly raced Down your cheeks painted a picture Of self destruction in love A picture of self discovery in denial A picture of self worth in empty space Your essence drifted on the air And danced with every sense Inside of me Would you ever know me Would my ears ever be serenaded By your story Would your look of desperation Ever be satisfied by the catching Of my eye what can I say To show you my desolate spirit Would you just see me as a stranger Or realize I am the one standing up Standing next to you Holding you in my arms And telling you everything will be alright A chance missed an opportunity drowned A heart sank The words were nowhere to be found Just before you step outside And leave me here Holding these possibilities I find these words These words that feel so perfect These words that sound so sweet They explode inside of me And bring me to my feet As every breath is silently Taken from all others in the room You paused, door knob in hand As the words pierced your beautiful sorrow My heart came out with such force The walls vibrated with every sound “Wait… there is something you need to know!” You looked eagerly on Time froze as you waited to hear My solemn words that followed I took a deep breath and swallowed all fear I trapped my previous words in And blinked…

May 27th, 2008 Wedding Proposal Fiascos

Everyone, man or woman, has an image in their head of the perfect proposal. Guys see themselves shouting it from the biggest billboards in the city, in the middle of the biggest sports event of the season, maybe even on your favorite TV show. The women, simply see hope that the man of their dreams will declare their love, drop down on one knee and ask her to marry him. After which she says yes, they kiss and voila! It’s time to get ready for the wedding.

Creating perfect wedding proposals does call for a little planning and forethought (others call for a lot of planning). It is quite easy for something to go, well not exactly wrong but off the planned track, and make the event not quite how you hoped it would be. Here are some examples of funny happenings at wedding proposals.

AJ had arranged to have dinner with his intended bride at his favorite restaurant. He placed the ring in the folds of the napkin she’d be using so that she’d find it shortly after she sat down. Unfortunately, she pulled the folds open too fast, and the ring flew out and rolled away. AJ had all the waiters and guests suddenly looking under their tables for the tiny golden ring. Quite a sight with everyone suddenly below deck, so to speak. The ring was found, the proposal made and she did say yes….laughing all the time.

Sam on the other hand planned a romantic dinner for two. He had everything ready, or so he thought. He had carefully placed the ring her champagne flute so that he could ask her to make a toast, then propose. He didn’t expect that she would knock back her drink so fast and almost swallowed the solitaire. Take note: a glass is never a safe place to put the ring in.

Philip and Lisa met in a charity event held in the park over a year ago. He decided to propose to her on the same spot where they met. Everything was going well. He was all set. He got down on one knee and just as he was about to ask her to marry him…the rain came pouring down. It didn’t stop her from saying yes though they did end up soggy from the rain.

Greg knew his girlfriend Cindy was absolutely crazy about these Russian matryoshka nesting dolls. He’d purchased one that she said she really liked and lay out a trail through their house for her to follow. He’d placed the largest piece about two steps from the doorway with a note asking Cindy to find the next doll. She managed to find all but the last piece he’d set up. Inside it was the engagement ring. The only problem was, the halves got stuck and Cindy couldn’t get the ring out. It took a while, but yes they managed to get the ring on Cindy’s finger and they now have very happy memories associated with the dolls.

In order to avoid these funny scenes, just keep it simple. The ladies will appreciate a simple, heartfelt proposal without the razzmatazz just as much. They’ll still say yes if you’re the one they want and you get to avoid a potentially embarrassing and funny moment.
