You may be a person that thinks that luck is real, or you may not be. Disagreement here is fine. But you can’t argue that hundreds of societies concur that specific animals impart them good luck and are auspicious to have around. Continue on if you would like to read about specific animals that can be added to your collection of collectible figurines to bring you good fortunes. Dragons: While they are often horrifying characters found in children’s narratives, millions of people from dozens of cultures consider dragons to be the luckiest of all entities. Throughout time, humans have called upon the dragon to protect their earthly treasures due to their reputations of strength and purity. Chinese legend holds that Evil Spirits are weak when in the presence of the dragon and their supernatural powers. This is the primary reason that Dragons are so prominent in China during the New Years celebrations. Many people place dragon statues and dragon figurines in the presence of tabletop fountains to heighten the lucky properties of the dragon. Elephants: First celebrated in the ancient civilization of Bharat, elephants have been reveared as bringing good fortunes for several millennia. Ganasha was the God that many Hindus in Bharat worshipped to add good fortunes to themselves. Ganasha was part elephant and part human. Since the early 20th century, those elephants that graciously point their trunks upwards, are the ones considered to bring the most luck. To bring the most luck to one’s dwellings, one should place the elephant figurines in the hallway so that their trunks are direct skyward. Horses: It is agreed upon by all experts that the one animal that evenly embodies power, movement and progress is the horse. For the last 200 years, horses have literally carried the progress of mankind on its back. While doing this, its become well known that horses are “tapped into” certain spiritual realms that most men and women never visit (evidenced by how scared horses get when bad things are about to happen). It is essential to know that Chinese Feng Shui practices advise highly against pointing a horse directly in the direction of a doorway. If you think that specific animals encourage lucky news, remember that countless other non-animal beings like Shiva pictures and/or angel figurines are believed to be auspicious as well. Throughout time, humankind has surrendered to the idea that luck plays a large part in the luck of our lives. And of all the variant beliefs, 3 animals have shown up time and time again in every society as good luck symbols. The formidable dragon, the merciful elephant, and the highly respected horse have each elevated above almost all interpersonal and temporal social controls to add luck to citizens. Are you inclined to open up your reality to this possibility? Only you know the solution to that. Posted in Collectors Guide, Counseling, Home Improvement Info | Comments Off

| September 17th, 2009 | Black Watches - Why Are They so Hot Right Now |
|
A watch is often used to measure a man’s success and sense of style. Trends in the watch industry are often used to track how well the economy is doing. Black watches are the hottest thing in watches right now and most people would agree that is the reason.. I am talking about black on black people. The look is Black band and black dial, it is sleek and sexy for sure. Twenty years ago people would have called you a fool for wearing an all black watch, but times are changing and the fashion industry is changing right along with it. Times have changed though and black isn’t the only watch color that seems to be hot right pink watches and purple watches are selling like crazy as well. Stainless steel or titanium is pretty much the norm for these all black watches. Most of the bodies of the watches are coated in PVD or Physical Vapor Deposition. PVD was used first in the metals industry, being founded in the 1960’s this technology has been around for quite a long time. Some black watches are now considered collector’s items especially the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and Paneri PAM 004. Posted in Collectors Guide | Comments Off

| September 4th, 2009 | Estey, Antique Pianos and Organs |
The Estey organ and piano became a dominate name in the world of antique pianos. Jacob Estey was born on a farm in Hinsdale, NH, 1814. He had to leave his home at four years of age to work on a neighboring farm where he had to stay until he was thirteen years old when he ran away to Worcester, Mass. He apprenticed to a plumber and traveled with his work. He ended up in Brattleboro, VT., in 1834, making this a famous town for the organs he made there. He continued plumbing, but in his building on Main Street, he rented the second floor to a melodeon maker named Greene. Estey invested heavily in the melodeon business only to lose almost everything by fire. Estey did not give up and within a year began building parlor organs. Fuller became his engineer. Superior quality became the goal. In 1885 the Estey Piano Company was organized in New York City. Both pianos and organs received superior awards for construction and workmanship. Estey died in 1890. His son became owner and manager. Then later his sons inherited the Estey Piano Company with the reputation for high class products. The grand and upright pianos became a dominant factor in the piano trade of the time and have become sought after antique pianos of our day. |
