We all recognize the majority of the action at a dinner party takes place when you sit down at the table. But there are plenty of dinner party ideas and games for after you have cleaned your plate too. Yes, there is sure to be dessert. Though as important as making sure your invitees are full, is ensuring they are amused. The key factor to a dinner party is the food. When company is coming at the last minute, it helps to have basics already available. You might not have time to make a foodie menu, but with basic food items, you can easily produce a couple of no-fuss, yummy recipes. Things like pasta, rice, noodles, flour, sugar, olive oil and chicken stock are pantry basics to have on hand. In addition, it is always good to have extra items like yogurt, cheese, lemons, ground beef and chicken breast in the refrigerator or freezer. Craft a mix by changing up the style every few songs. Start with a mood/lounge mix, go to pop music and rock-and-roll, and end the night on a high note with energetic music guests can dance to. It doesn’t have to be a dance party - it’s the vibe of the music you’re going for, not the purpose to get friends shaking their hips! If you seem uneasy or are concerned things won’t go well, your guests will pick up on it as soon as they walk in the door. If you are laid back and have a good time, everyone else will follow too.
