August 8th, 2008 Increased Gaming Notebook Saturation Good for Customers

The days where laptops for gaming were a specialist market are fading really fast. Sure they were not made in significant quantities but system builders did generate a lot of profit on them. These were the type of notebooks desired by many but the price was just too high. Obviously as they were so state of the art they were the best laptop computers in relation to speed. Regardless of whether that was true I believe the prices were so expensive that we would buy laptops that were not so great instead. These days things vary a lot with international brands also making gaming notebooks.

Laptops for gaming are typically not affordable by people and tier 1 companies know they can benefit from the big profit margins even further with their bulk manufacturing. With such minute profits on other notebooks its no surprise they would like to be involved. Big brands would certainly find it easier to get prospects to buy these laptop computers. I do not know what this will do to littler companies but it will have a bad effect on them. Plainly what I see happening here is that the larger manufacturers cutting prices in the beginning to get rid of the competition from littler system builders. People just feel much more confident making a massive purchase from a brand name.

Amazingly, the notebooks they are introducing are a couple of the best laptop computers to present. I reckon that local businesses may still have a chance. I can predict the option of getting to customise the notebook to be an important buying factor. Educated in the technology, these sort of purchasers are savvy to what details to look for. The fine point are of great importance for this sort of purchaser. This will be seen as a good development for the consumer. This would continue to make the premium technology increasingly accessible for the customer. Its hard to predict what could occur to be honest as the industry is a fast moving one. Whether technology prices will decline on the whole is an additional matter but the best laptop computers are typically expensive. Greater competition traditionally provides better products at cheaper prices so the times ahead should be promising.

August 8th, 2008 Creativity and Innovation Management - Hierarchies

Creativity can be defined as problem identification and idea generation whilst innovation can be defined as idea selection, development and commercialisation.

There are other useful definitions in this field, for example, creativity can be defined as consisting of a number of ideas, a number of diverse ideas and a number of novel ideas.

There are distinct processes that enhance problem identification and idea generation and, similarly, distinct processes that enhance idea selection, development and commercialisation. Whilst there is no sure fire route to commercial success, these processes improve the probability that good ideas will be generated and selected and that investment in developing and commercialising those ideas will not be wasted.

Hierarchies

Many consultants will argue that the best organisational structure to foster creativity and innovation is a flat one. This is tending towards the truth but is not absolutely accurate.

Reality tells us that there are many reasons why an organisation’s structure has its shape (logistics, organic growth, history, size, market share, future strategy) and is, like organisational culture, not easily changed or restructured. Often, there are valid reasons not to make structural adjustments at all.

Thus leaders require, not recommendations for complete restructure, but knowledge of fostering properties that can be easily adapted into the existing structure. This fits with research that indicates that people who generate ideas on a regular basis find structure to be unimportant as long as some criteria are met. These include:

a) Direct access to decision makers - provides fast feedback and immediate go or kill decisions.

b) Short lines of communication - if communication gets filtered there is a loss of momentum and corresponding loss of control.

c) Tangible progression - if ideas are not picked up at all, motivation suffers.

These and other topics are covered in depth in the MBA dissertation on Managing Creativity & Innovation, which can be purchased (along with a Creativity and Innovation DIY Audit, Good Idea Generator Software and Power Point Presentation) from http://www.managing-creativity.com/

August 6th, 2008 Business Plan Long Term Goals

Writing a business plan is not an easy endeavor, nor is predicting the future. You will need to spent adequate time in preparing your long-term goals and objectives. This will help you understand what you are doing and where you wish to be. Martin Luther King in is most famous speech said; “I have a dream” which is noble indeed, but had he had a “Strategic Plan” with quarterly objectives he may have seen that dream come true in his lifetime.

In preparing your Long Term Goals and Objectives for your business plan you will need to communicate this to the investor, banker or your partners. It also helps you stay on course and keep your plan strategic rather than merely a dream. Below I have provided you with a sample “long term goal” section for a business plan so you can see how best to do this. This sample was written from the perspective of a franchisee of a mobile car wash business, a very simple business indeed, yet it will help you sort thru all your own objectives to determine what is best for the future or your next entrepreneurial endeavor. Please feel free to print this and make notes in the margin and then prepare some paragraphs for your own business. This will help you verbalize your plan when talking to investors and assist you in writing your business plan. Think on this.

Long Term Goals

Our long-term goal is to expand our service achieving a 10% market penetration and operate ten mobile car wash trucks in our exclusive territory.

We also plan to renew our Franchise Agreement for two terms. At the end of five years we plan to operate these trucks without physically doing the labor. We will occasionally wash cars, attend community events and fundraisers. We will at that point be providing more of a managerial role. After the second renewal in ten years, we plan to have a general manager running our company, go into semi-retirement and possibly do a little traveling.

August 3rd, 2008 Get a new home with easy mortgage, 137533 euro is not a problem

It is a transfer of an interest in land, from the owner to the mortgage lender, on the condition that this interest will be returned to the owner of the real estate when the terms of the mortgage have been satisfied or performed.

But others will claim low rates to bring in customers or tell you that the rates 6 percent offered by competitors will change.

Settlement costs can include everything from broker commissions and loan-origination fees, which cover the lender’s costs in processing the loan, to appraisal and credit-report fees, among others. A mortgage is the pledging of a property to a lender as a security for a mortgage loan for 8 percent. See which lenders are charging fees 5 percent and for how much. Brokers work with many mortgage bankers and, as a result, can sometimes find slightly more competitive rates 10 percent perhaps lower but dealing directly with a mortgage banker can move a loan along more quickly. In other words, the mortgage is a security for the loan that the lender makes to the borrower. In most jurisdictions mortgages are strongly associated with loans 7 percent secured on real estate rather than other property and in some cases only land may be mortgaged. And of course, each loan and each borrower are different. So how do you find a lender or broker you can trust’ Arranging a mortgage is seen as the standard method by which individuals and businesses can purchase residential and commercial real estate without the need to pay the full value immediately. Start with credibility. It’s not easy to know if the prices quoted by lenders are reliable. Many of these fees are fixed but some can be negotiated.

Some will quote you precise, competitive rates 8 percent. Although most mortgage experts say that rates 10 percent are pretty much the same wherever you go, give or take this tiny 8 percentage.

Both banks and brokers have their strengths and weaknesses. Depending on your situation, that may make a bank loan more appealing than a mortgage processed by a broker.

While a mortgage in itself is not a debt, it is evidence of a debt of 9 percent. See mortgage loan for residential mortgage lending, and commercial mortgage for lending against commercial property. Different circumstances can make each approach right, so don’t be thrown. Different lenders charge different fees. Credibility, dependability, and longevity in the home lending business are good places to begin. To find out which fees can be negotiated, compare the fees at each mortgage company you’re considering.

August 2nd, 2008 Trick Or Treat - Is This Make-Believe Or The Real Thing?

“I’ll call you this week”. “Yes, I’d love to see you again”. “I had a great time”. “I’m not interested in dating anyone else”. “I think I’m falling in love with you.”

These are a few of the phrases passed between singles as they move through the stages of meeting and dating. At the time, they are uttered with what feels like true emotion and honesty. No wonder the person they are directed to is so confused when the call never comes, the person becomes unavailable, or it soon becomes evident that the speaker is dating or deeply involved with someone else. Can we ever believe what we see or hear? How can we be sure?

Dating is a process of getting to know someone. It begins with an attraction, which is formed by that first impression. Often, this first meeting occurs by chance at a social gathering, at work or in the course of one’s daily life. More and more, it happens through a response to a personal ad and the emailing and phone calls that follow. Both in-person and email or voice contact give us a sense of the other individual- but this is only a brief snapshot of who they may be. It takes real time together to create a larger and clearer picture of this other person and their rightness or wrongness for us. During this time we assess for friendship, attraction, shared interests and values, and a willingness and ability on the part of both individuals to move forward in a relationship.

Given that this is a process, it has stages. A first date helps the couple to learn more. It is a fact-finding experience, which involves not only the information the other provides, but our feelings and reactions to it and to them as a potential partner. We show our best selves and attempt to make an appropriate connection with someone we find desirable. In the best scenario, everything clicks for both people and conversation is natural and easy. More often, there may be questions, doubts, and/or mixed feelings. Seeing each other again is often suggested by one or both people and is a good way to learn more about each other and resolve any questions. But the doubts and negative feelings go unstated in a desire to either give the other person a chance or to let them down easily. It’s also an easy way out for someone who is uncomfortable with this level of emotional honesty.

So, how do we know what the other person is truly feeling? You have several options for getting this information.

* You take them at their word and wait to see if they follow through with what they have said they would do. Nothing speaks louder than behavior. This option is the most common choice and can leave you in that all too familiar holding and wondering pattern.

* You attempt to address the situation openly and candidly. This one requires a bit of courage and an ability to be vulnerable. State how you are feeling in a thoughtful but honest way. Ask them to do the same for you. Let them know that you want to hear their honest thoughts about how the date went and if they would like to get together again.

* The third option should be used regardless of what you do with the other two. Pay attention to their non-verbal communication. How do they look at you? What quiet responses do you get after you have shared something about yourself? What do you see in their facial reaction, posture and eyes? Do you FEEL interest or just politeness? Are they really WITH you, or somewhere else? If you learn to listen to the non-verbal language, you will HEAR much more than what their words have to say.

Listening to the whole person applies throughout the stages of dating and relationships. It is also important during this time to pay attention to their behavior and note inconsistencies or mixed messages. Too often people don’t and are stunned when a relationship “suddenly” ends or they find out they are seeing someone who was not the person they thought they were. Trust your instincts and listen “with a third ear”.

Remember also that the responsibility for honesty is also on you. Don’t say what you think the other person wants to hear because you don’t want to be impolite or hurt their feelings. If you really think about it, it is more hurtful and in poor taste to be dishonest with someone who has a true interest and is trying to learn yours.

August 1st, 2008 The Ghost Cat in the Attic

This is a very strange but true story. Not everyone believe’s in ghosts but I do and I have had several experiences with the super natural, this is only one of my encounters.

This happened when I was only (8) eight years old.

My bus driver’s wife had a kitten and she wanted to get rid of it so she offered it to me first and of course I took the female kitten from her. Now this was the first cat that I can remember owning, she was a black and white cat and for some reason I gave her the name Dozier. She was a very sweet cat and she truly was mine because she was every where that I was.

Now we had several other cats and we had a problem with them getting into our attic, seemed like we could not keep them out so we decided to put up boards in the places that they were getting in through but Dozier would always find a way in. Now in my bed room there was a large rectangular hole in the corner of the ceiling: now Dozier had found this hole and we started playing with each other through this hole and I would feed her if I had any food in my room, she would stay there for hours and play with me.

We had this cat for maybe a year, we had her long enough for her to have a litter of kittens. About two weeks after her having her kittens my grandfather had found her dead in the road when we all had gone to the store. Instead of burying her he had just thrown her over the hill. When mom had finally decided to tell me that evening I was sad and depressed because that cat and I were so close and I couldn’t believe that my grandfather didn’t bury her.

Well we were left to care for her kittens. Days later after Dozier’s death I was sitting in my bed room doing home work when suddenly I saw a black and white paw coming through the hole in my ceiling and not really thinking I was glad to see Dozier because my home work was getting on my nerves and I went to play with her. Now her death had completely slipped my mind and I was really playing with her and petting her then I turned to see if I had some food for her when suddenly it hit me that she was dead and I fell flat on the floor trying to get away from her and I busted my head on the floor but the pain didn’t faze me. I looked back up at the hole and she was still there waiting for me to bring her something like she always did.

I went to my mother and asked her to go outside and call all of her cats on the porch then I had her to come in the bed room and she saw it to. This dead cat was still there. I was one terrified little girl then suddenly I had realized why she had came back to me, two reason for her return; one was to tell me good bye and the other one was that she was not at rest. The next day when I came home from school I went over the hill where my grandfather had thrown her and found what was left of her and I buried her in the hills and I never seen her again. So I put her soul to rest and she was satisfied and had no reason to come back.

Seeing a ghost is one thing but seeing one and touching one is something that you never forget. The reason that so many ghosts try to reach the living is because they want us to help them to reach the other side.
